ACW Confederate Infantry - 57th Virginia

Finished basing my first Confederate infantry unit - the 57th Virginia (Pickett's division, Armistead's brigade at Gettysburg).  The unit is all Perry Miniatures from their plastic Confederate infantry boxed set.  The amazing Steve Dake is painting through my ACW stuff and is doing a great job.  This is a good start on my ACW collection here and should be playing my first games using Black Powder by the end of the year if all goes to plan.

That's all for now --- more to come!

  3. Great painting I have plenty of Union but very few Rebs so might have to get the old paint brush going I think.

    1. I'm still just building up both sides ... but will have 15 reb units when it is all done (Pickett's whole division) :-)

  4. Just look at all those delicate, plastic bayonets just waiting to be snapped off in their first game! ;-) Which will only make them more authentic, if less dramatic looking. 15 of those on the table will look amazing.

    1. Actually, the bayonets on those guys are the sturdiest I've come by ... even if they break off (which should be mostly avoidable - but really inevitable), there is a good surface area in which I can reattach them. Very happy with those Perry plastics man! Thanks! :-)

    1. Thank Phil! This is the one time I think you can get away with calling Rebs "beautiful" ;-) lol

  6. I know you have your WW2 collection professionally painted for you Jay but if these Rebs were painted by yourself, then you don't need to get someone else as the painting is superb.

    1. Ahhh yes, I do contract out a lot of painting. I never said I couldn't paint ... I just don't have a lot of time to paint since I'm generally putting stuff together or painting/completing terrain. I do like to get my hands dirty once in a while :-) The good thing is that for the contract painters I use, I can match their painting style well (part of why I use them, as because I can paint I'm very particular about when I have to pay for it) :-)
