28mm US Army and Pilots

Next up here is Dan Kerrick's US Army collection in ACU (Army Combat Uniform) which includes two downed pilots.  The universal camouflage pattern that is ACU is well known to be highly ineffective at this point in time - but hey, there is a hell of a lot of it out there and it was the mainstay of the US Army during the operations we are playing.  All the miniatures are from Empress Miniatures.  Dan had these guys commissioned by two great painters.

These guys will do "triple duty" in that they will be used for three different theaters of operation:  Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and for a fictional engagement between the US and Russia in Europe.  As a result, Dan did the bases brown as at least brown can be found in all three locations.

  1. Great work! I was never a fan of the digital grey pattern and much prefer the old style BDU, DCU, and the new pattern based off of multi-cam but, you guys work it.

    1. Yeah, but it is appropriate for the time frame we are playing --- I guess unfortunately ;-)

  2. Really excellent work!
Do the snipers come with seperate heads? Most of Empress's modern miniatures do...

    1. Thanks.
That'd be great. I think of converting them to Brits. Actually they seem pretty universal in this lying bith. Except the headgear...

    2. Correction -- double checked and no, they are not using separate heads ... apologies!

    4. No problem ... would be hard work to hack them off as well ... oh well.

    1. Going to have lots of fun with them (and making fun of the camo pattern) :-)

  4. Excellent work with the UCP pattern. Your sniper stand highlights why we needed the OCP pattern to replace it.
