Preview: Black Guard of Barad-dûr

Just a quick update today.  The basing factory continues to operate, so more finished units coming soon.  

Bohdan is hard at work on more LOTR stuff.  He's just about finished with my unit of Black Guard of Barad-dûr.  I love the look of these guys and Bohdan continues to churn out spectacular work.

My LOTR collection is fast getting there ... with Rohan, Isengard and the Corsairs of Umbar already done, and Gondor very nearly done.  Mordor will be done this summer, and Bohdan will be working on my Khand faction.  The Easterlings are done and just need to get on bases.  Harad is mostly done, just a couple of odds and ends to do there ... but a lot to base.

This is turning out to be a fairly massive collection.

War of the Ring: Gondor Fiefdoms

Another good chunk of my Gondor army is now on bases.  Once again, the amazing Bohdan M. painted these beautiful figures.  This group is primarily all the units from the Fiefdoms of Gondor.

Bohdan did some absolutely stunning conversion work on the command groups for the Men-at-Arms of Dol Amroth, Clansmen of Lamedon, and the Axemen of Lossarnach!  For those of you that are familiar with the GW LOTR line - you'll see what I mean!

This batch includes:

• 1 x 36 Axemen of Lossarnach (with Forlong the Fat)
• 1 x 36 Clansmen of Lamedon (with Angbor)
• 2 x 18 Blackroot Vale Archers (with Duinhir)
• 1 x 36 Men-at-Arms of Dol Amroth
• 1 x 18 x Foot Knights of Dol Amroth
• 1 x Knights of Dol Amroth
• Boromir (foot and mounted with banner)
• Faramir Minas Tirith version, to go along with the Ranger version I have (foot and mounted)
• Prince Imrahil of Dol Amroth (foot and mounted)
• Aragorn, King of Gondor (foot and mounted)
• Húrin, The Warden of the Keys (foot and mounted)

Believe it or not, still haven't put a dent in this basing project ... a lot more to do.

A great week for progress.  Going to slow down a bit now as i had most of this stuff prepared for a little while.  I have to cut the slotta bases off the remaining stuff and that takes time to get done right.  But, lots more to come!

War of the Ring: Gondor

Some more progress today, this time units for my Gondor army.  Once again, these have been done by the talented Bohdan M.  Still have lots to base but the ACME basing factory is grinding along.

Here we have a unit of Ithilien Rangers (18), Gondor Rangers (18), Captian Faramir in Ranger gear, 3 units of Minas Tirith Archers (18 each), and 2 units of Bolt Throwers (2 each).

War of the Ring: Corsairs of Umbar

My Corsairs of Umbar faction is ready for action now.  Just finished up the basing today.  Took pictures just using some white plasticard sheets and my phone camera.  Special thanks to Bohdan Mykhaylyk for doing an amazing paint job on these figures!

The raiding for consists of 1 x captain (hero), 2 x assassins, 2 x 18 figure Arbalesters (crossbows with large shields), and 2 x 36 figure Raiding Parties (mixed weapons).

Below is the whole raiding force laid out on my painting mat.

In addition to the Corsair force, I also started into basing my Gondor army.  The first units done here are 2 x Trebuchets and a 36 figure Citadel Guard unit.

Nice to get these units done.  Next up is a bunch more Gondor units.
