Valour & Fortitude: Napoleonic Scenarios

Having finally circled back around to my historical projects, I'm happy to be diving back into some work on my Napoleonic collection.  I've had a good look at Valour & Fortitude - a ruleset from Perry Miniatures (https://www.perry-miniatures.com/valour-fortitude/vf-rules).

I've written up two scenarios I'll be playing through: Kulm (1813) and Shevardino Redoubt (1812).

Battle of Kulm, August 29th, 1813

The Battle of Kulm fought on August 29 and 30 in 1813 as part of the German campaign during the Third Coalition. Vandamme’s 1st Corps is pursuing the allies after Napoleon’s victory at Dresden. Vandamme catches up to the allies at the village near the village of Kulm. Prince Eugen of Württemberg has been detached from Wittgenstein’s column and commands elements of the Russian 2nd Corps, the 14th Infantry Division from the 1st Corps, and a mix of regular and irregular cavalry. General Vandamme’s forces outnumber Württemberg’s. Württemberg requests support and but must fight a delaying action until help can arrive. This scenario represents the Russian delaying action on the first day of the battle.

Battle of Shevardino Redoubt, September 5th, 1812

As Napoleon approached his destiny at the battle of Borodino, he arrives to find the Russian forward position occupying the Shevardino redoubt. Napoleon springs into action to take the redoubt to prepare for the main assault against the Russian positions at Borodino. Compans 5th division of the 1st Corps under Davout leads the attack to take the redoubt. Additional support would be provided by Murat’s 1st and 2nd reserve Cavalry Corps and additional infantry elements from 1st Corps. The notable Russian 27th division constitutes the primary Russian forces defending the redoubt and surrounding area. The Russians have good support from both grenadier units and a good amount of heavy cavalry to reinforce their defensive position.

KulbaCon 2025 Report

Yikes!  It's been a little while. I have been gaming and working on projects, but I've just not had any extra time to blog about any of it.  From the new year to now I've been just back-to-back busy with life, work, and hobbies with nary a moment to spare.

Back in May I attended the excellent KublaCon game convention - the largest local area gaming convention.  Adam Clark was over from Germany to visit and game.  He brought along his amazing Space Hulk setup (pictures below).

I ran a mini Warhammer Old World campaign - the Idol of Gork.  It was fun.

I've swung back around to my historical periods now with a series of Napoleonic and ACW games coming up - along with a whole new setup for Vikings and Saxons.  I'll do a separate post about all those in progress efforts separately.
