28mm Bedford QLD Transport Arrived

After a lot of back and forth with Shapeways and the 3D modeler, all the printing issues that Shapeways experienced with the 28mm (1:56 scale) Bedford QLD truck have been resolved.  I finally was able to order one and it arrived just the other day.  I will be using three of these in my upcoming "Hell's Highway" game at the PacifiCon Game Expo.  The canopies are cast/sold separately - I had ordered and received them before.

Not the best pictures - I used my phone and the casting material is white --- but you can see the vast majority of the detail in the pictures below.

You can order your own ($49.99) from Shapways here:  https://www.shapeways.com/product/PTCZB3TCL/bedford-qld-1-56-scale

The canopy ($8.37) here: https://www.shapeways.com/product/LTAY3BTQ3/bedford-qld-canopy-1-56-scale

I'm looking forward to getting these guys painted up and on the table!

  1. Wow, impressive level of detail. Incredible that so much of the mecha under the car is reproduced into the model. 3D is really the future, and prices are bound to drop too, given some time. Will look forward to the painted version!

    1. Agree - I was really impressed with the under carriage (even though you don't really see it when it is on the game table) :-)

Two more on the way --- when they get here I'll be painting them up.

  3. That does look rather good with some excellent detail on the chassis, but seems quite pricey. I think Blitzkreig have the right idea, casting in resin from a 3D printed master.

    1. It is pricey --- but I don't have a resin casting setup (which is messy and takes some time to perfect) --- and I only wanted 3 of them ... so it was easier to just pay the modeler to do it and then order them from Shapeways. Certainly if I wanted many more, or if I wanted to distribute them I would definitely go resin casting to reduce the price. 3D master models are a great thing for companies looking to mass produce.
