Test of Honour: 1st Group Done

Just finished the first group of my Ashigaru scouts for Test of Honour and I'm happy with the overall look.  Eyeballs were never my thing, but they are mainly hidden under the headwear.

  1. Very nice to see grouping on base. You are definitely on target with scheme.

    Cheers

    1. Thanks Kevin ... very LA Lakers, but that was unintentional :-)

  2. I'm loving your basing, Jay, and the color combinations work on your models, but dang, JW,may I be so bold as to suggest slits for eyes? (Course, if I was to do hand to hand combat with anyone, I'd be wide eyed too) Forget I said anything...

    1. Lol! The eyes are sorta pointless on these guys since you can't really see the under the brim .. but I'm going to fix them up a bit if I can.

  3. Look at this fella here, banging out the completed models, well done 😀
So how many do you need for a game? And I imagine that you'll need to paint up an opposing force as well?

    1. Heya Ivor!! Warbands are between 10-20 models generally. This one will have 15 total when done. Still waiting on some orders to arrive from the UK. I'll have 4 warbands when done. I'm painting this one, but have the excellent Steve Dake lined up to help with the others (still have a massive backlog of basing to do for Napoleonics and LotR).

  5. Very nice... and eyeballs are overrated! They always strike me as a lot of effort and when I do them they always end up looking like Marty Feldman.

    1. Lol, I have to agree ... I think I'm just going to paint flesh over them and use two horizontal lines in the socket as "slits" and leave it at that.

  6. I Agree- I rarely paint eyes, usually just on main characters. The painting is beautiful- I love the solid colours- and basing is excellent too.
