War of the Ring: Harad and Mordor

My Harad army still has much to be painted, but a good portion of it is done.  Below is Suladan - The Serpent Lord, 1 x 18 Harad Raiders, 1 x 18 Mahud Raiders, 18 x Mahûd Warriors (need to add another 18), and finally 5 x War Mûmak.

Harad units painted by the magnificent Steve Dake.

Below are the 5 x War Mûmak of Harad ... 2 pictures of each at different angles because they are so large.

And some Mordor units also join the pile of finished units ... this group includes 3 x 36 Morannon Orcs and 6 x Trolls.

Trolls ... I wanted a different and varying look to the trolls versus a group of identical looking models (well, the pose is limited, but at least from a painting perspective) ...

Nearing the end of the painted stuff ... another large group of Mordor units will be done soon.  This "basing push" has been long overdue and it is nice to see the light at the end of the tunnel on this one.

  1. Looking fantastic, Jay! The mass together must be a sight to behold. Those grass tufts make all the difference, don't they? The gravel mix you're using is also very effective, with the variety in sizes and shapes.

    1. Working up to putting the whole collection (to date) out on the table for a picture. I really do love the new sand I got, buying it off Ebay ... WWS Army Corse Model Sand ... highly recommended :-)

  3. Very impressive! Really must be stupendous (and possibly a little scary) to sit across the table from that lot.

  4. Steve’s amazing as always! I’ll be fortunate to ever get even one of the giant elephants as their expensive as heck. The Trolls are my favorite of all Troll models. I’ll definitely invest in these as I will use them in Rangers of Shadow Deep as well. Brilliant collection you’ve been showing off of late!

    Cheers

    1. Hey Kevin! There are a couple of good buy/sell groups on FB for LOTR ... you can get decent deals on those groups ... better than Ebay or buying direct from GW.
